Zumba Classes at Geist Christian #1
Zumba Experiences:
I received my Zumba certification June 2010 and have been teaching since August 2010.  Prior to that I took Zumba for almost 3 years with various wonderful instructors!

I have taught several expos and classes in Washington, NC at Fitness Unlimited and continue to teach classes there as I travel home to see family in the area.

In the Fall of 2010 until the end of the year I worked at Michele's Studio in Fishers, IN.  While this partnership did not prove to be the best for my Zumba career personally or financially, I met some amazing people that I have continued to teach and develop friendships with.

In December 2010, God answered many prayers when I was offered a position to teach Zumba at Geist Christian Church in Fishers, IN.  This program began at the beginning of January, but even prior to the first class has been a blessing.  I am getting the chance to work with the amazing staff of Geist Christian Church, who is partnering with me to provide an amazing fitness program for women.  The program combines fitness, fellowship, prayer and a safe childcare program for the kids of the parents participating.  I could not ask for a better situation.

On top of that, I kicked off my Zumba parties this January.  This plan developed when I realized that I needed some evening class opportunities (after having to leave my Tuesday evening ladies at Micheles).  So far I have already picked up 1 weekly class with some amazing ladies!

God has truly been beside me every step of the way and blessed this new venture!

About Me:

Zumba has become such a blessing in my life.  I took Zumba for several years before becoming certified in the summer of 2010.  I went into the certification event excited - I was taking on yet another new adventure, one I never would have sought out if not for the persistance of my sister.

Only 2 years ago I was a High School science teacher and if you would have asked me then, I could not have imagined leaving teaching, much less moving into the field of aerobics!
Then, came baby Samantha – wow, life has a way of flipping everything you thought you knew upside down!  I thought I would be a working mother and one look at that baby nestled in my arms and that was it - I could not imagine not being a stay at home mother!  Of course, that would be financially very difficult for us, but my husband was 100% supportive and encouraged me to follow my heart.  What a blessed woman I am to say the least!

I left the world of teaching, which I dearly loved to be a stay-at-home mother - which I still am to this day.  Every day I feel incredibly blessed to be spending these precious moments with my daughter - I know how lucky I am.

However, that does not mean I did not miss the creative outlet that teaching provided me both in the classroom and in the extracurricular activities I was blessed to lead.  For of those activities, was the dance teams I was a part of.  In my six years of teaching, I was a dance team choreographer and director at both high schools I worked for - in fact, dance had been a large part of my life as far as I could remember.  I have so many memories even throughout my youth, of moving back furniture and dancing for hours - I could almost see a dance play out in my head when the music came on.  That passion for dance and the creativity of creating moves stayed with me even into adulthood.

So when my sister suggested I marry my love for teaching, with my love of dance and my love of Zumba - I was sold!  Since then it has provided me not only a little extra financial security, but that creative outlet that refreshes me as both a woman and a mother.  Yes, I have seen amazing effects in my body, but that does not compare with the energy, excitement and joy it has brought me.  It has also sparked in me the interest to do more – further my Zumba certifications, get my AFAA certifications and look for more opportunities to teach.  I think this is a God-blessed roads filled with lots of adventures and opportunities ahead!
